I think you over sell the branded items.and make it seem that you can only paint with expensive paints and canvases. And I think that puts alot of people with true talent off.

Have you ever tried Golden paint?
I use acrylic paint for nails. I'm having problems with it drying too fast that it starts having chunks with my brush strokes. What am I doing wrong? The space it very limited because it's a nail so maybe it's the typw of acrylic paint I'm using? What can I use instead? I'm currently using the cheap kind from Michael's and can be found at Walmart Craftsmart. TYVM
New here. I recently had a dishwasher die. So I took the utensil holder, put cardboard on the bottom, then put the brushes in the slots.
#10 confirmed to me that you are 100% an educator. I teach Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop classes at a Public Library Makerspace. We have limited time and if I have LOTS of patrons in a class at once or the Makerspace is SLAMMED, the patrons that NEED me to hold their hands for every step of the process break my heart because I know they aren’t going to progress very quickly and likely give up.
We give our county full access to Lynda.com and I tell them to not just watch them when they are actively working on a project, turn them on (or YouTube tutorials) when you’re getting ready in the morning, eating breakfast, waiting at the doctors office, whatever. That way, they are more likely to explore more “advanced” techniques—which give weight to the fundamentals they’re learning. Also—it exposes them to full workflows, vocabulary for techniques (which makes searching the web for tutorials 1000000 times easier), better informs the capabilities and limitations of a program, learn multiple ways to reach a certain outcome, learn to better predict outcomes, plus more.
When you said to not leave your brushes in wet water, as a person who does this probably more than the average person, this is so true. I have damaged brushes before (some I now use to put different textures) and made me look at my skull jar and see 4 brushes sitting in water. They have been for a few days now. Yikes xD

In my high school art classes, the grade 11 class was dedicated to painting acrylics on canvas. Our teacher allowed us to only use black, white and the primary colors. Forced us to mix and experiment to achieve every color and texture.

I practice painting on a thick paper that's designated for painting, but it always buckles. Is there such thing as a paper that doesn't buckle?
I definitely am afraid to make mistakes! It's stopped me from trying for over a year. I didn't want to waste paint and paper.
