On this video, I share my total course of of making an acrylic portrait in my sketchbook.
1. Begin with a primary sketch of my topic.
2. Spray the drawing with workable fixative.
3. Add a layer of clear gesso (to cease the paper from absorbing you acrylic paint).
4. Combine your paints.
5. Start your portray.

I love your work

Absolutely amazing! Love it so much
It's rare to find anybody painting portraits in acrylic, let alone a brother doing it so mad props to you sir.
Amazing! Question – How do you keep your paint fresh when painting? i never pre-mix my colors but only from a fear of them drying out. It would be easier to plan out the painting by pre mixing though. Also, excellent mixing job!
Awesome painting! I feel like she looks like me, pretty cool!
Very nice work. How long do you let that clear gesso remain before you start painting?
She's beautiful
Tbh not much tutorial going on here just a time lapse video. Great painting tho
1st time viewer, and excited to see more tutorials by Raelis Vasquez. I have been a professional artist and art teacher over 50 years and I find this to be incredibly informative. Great demos.
Wow u make it look easy ππ§‘
Wow great work bro, suddenly I'm less intimidated by painting portraits
I loved this tutorial! I especially liked how you didn't use any bad language like some people.
This is very helpful, Raelis! Thank you for sharing your process for us newbies! I'm subscribing!
Great work!

damn…i was going to give up portraying with acrylics without even trying it, but this gives me hope. still don't fathom how you make it look blended without really blending, but i will watch the vid several times to get the idea.
the acrylic paint on the sheet didn't dry? also, did you mix paint with water in the beginning? amazing painting btw
Thanks for sharing your process! Your work is brilliant! I worked in watercolors and pencils for years and have only been dabbling with painting for a few years, so this was helpful to see how you approach it.
Beautiful!!!!

I am watching the whole video third time and I would like to appreciate the use of only one brush π + it's so satisfying, your instructions are also superb and easy to understand for the one who is new on your channel. π

Glad I found you.I'm working on a portrait of my late mother and I needed a little help on her skin tone, which was a lighter complexion than I'm used to working with.I gotta learn to get those undertones down.Thanks.
Amazing!
Amazing technique! Looks so realistic!
Sorry if this was asked b4! Can i use gesso on my pencil sketch without spraying fixative or is that a needed step?

Very interesting. I'm glad I came across your video. The way you build up the values is fun to watch. Most excellent! Thanks!
Just subscribed. Can you lecture on what you are doing and skip the background music. Good work.
Hey man, awesome portrait! How do you add all those details with that brush? What brush are you using? Also, do you have tips on blending skin tones?
what paper did you use?
Which brushes did you use? Any particular brand name and type?
