Is The Cotman 666 brush a watercolour brush
666 brush sounds "beastly" to be honest.
For some reason, it's acrylics in the blue spectrum i find hard to get a consistent finish; I end up having to add many more layers than red or yellow for example. Anyone else struggle with blue acrylics and if so what advice could you offer?
Been spending hours on trying to find how to get super solid flat colors with acrylics, along with a demonstration, and this is by far the best one. Thank you so much.
I wonder where he is now in 2021
Thank you for the lesson on what I've been struggling with for a while.
Series 666 brush, huh? I never knew acrylic painting was so metal 😎
awesome
yellow…
I've tried this many times in different ways and the exact same as this video and I still get brushstrokes and patches of white from the canvas. People! Use Turner Acrylic Gauche and nothing else to achieve the ideal flat colors.
He's Australian… That accent ^^"
Awesome, this helped a TON to learn how to get a super-fast solid color on a canvas!
Did anybody else accidentally hear "Gonorrhea" when he said "Galleria"?

This video was extremely helpful! Having said that I was wondering if this same technique can be applied to heavy weight watercolour paper once I've stretched it. I was also curious to know whether having a coloured ground affects the saturation of different colours when they're applied on top of it? That has been my experience in the past. I don't want the foreground colours to lose their purity and richness…your advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!
… or you can just add a drop or two of washing up liquid, this acts as a surface tension breaker and has much the same effect of something that costs £££s
@JacksonsArtSupplies
Many thanks, I'll try that.
Best wishes
Billie
@BilliesCraftRoom Glad you found this informative! Yes you could do similar with Cryla, or any acrylic paint. If you want to thin out the consistency of an acrylic paint you can adopt the technique in the video with any acrylic colour and flow improver. There are a number of different manufacturers that produce flow improvers for acrylics, search 'flow medium' for a full menu of them on our website.
Thanks for this video, it really helped me out.
Could I do something similar to get a more fluid effect with Cryla paint too?
Best wishes
Billie 🙂
Don't skip parts like that, speed it up if need be. You skipped the part where he actually paints most of the canvas.
