On this video we cowl the specifics of establishing your paint gun for acrylic paints relatively than paints that require “movement”. The distinction is that the acrylic paints that I am utilizing listed below are designed to go on in very mild coats as a result of they do not bond chemically. The spray gun must be arrange in another way with the intention to make this simpler. There are additionally particular nozzle sizes beneficial for spraying these paints by varied sizes of paint gun and airbrush.
The paint gun that I’m utilizing on this video is a Devilbiss Finishline. The arylic is made by AutoAir, which is a sub-brand of createx. I’m spraying on a metallic panel which will likely be utilized in a later video to create a tutorial on easy methods to paint ghost flames with water-based paint.

Hi there Brad, thanks for great vids! I use Acrylic Lacquer 1K at home on cars because it's easier without perfect conditions and a booth.
I have question for you please.
I've just finished rear quarters, a boot an bumper.
In one spot mid panel, about 15mm circle, I sanded through before buffing and a slight old paint discoloration visible.
I have a lot of trouble blending Acrylic 1k clear edges to invisibility and I don't want to reclear the whole panel if i can avoid.
So the approach I want to try is this mix color and clear:
1. sand very small (about 50-cm circle) area around the discoloration with lightlity with 600-800
2. Back mask with a good curve in the tape to avoid an edge and keep first 2 coats tight as possible to the discolored area
3. Mix 50/50 1k Acrylic Clear and Block Color (no metallics or pearl involved luckily)
3. Use small touch up gun with 0.8mm nozzle and turn down pressure, fan about 1/2 to 1/3 of usual fan
4. Mist on a a few coat, making the area just fractiionally larger on 3rd, 4th, 5th mist coats each time, but keeping it as small as poss.
5. Leave to get fully hard for a couple of weeks.
6. Resand lighting and cut and polish panel as normal
What to you think, especially of mixing Clear and Clear instead of doing a final clear coat, which as I say I have real trouble getting a good edge blend??

So over reduced paint will fisheye? I did not know that… been struggling with my single stage paints fisheying… my primers and bases are fine but that stuff just won't obey!

This was very helpful and totally changed how I was spraying my acrylic paint on my car.
What size air compressor need for those type of paint guns?
Thanks for the video. I wonder if you can do a demo on how to clean the spray gun after using acrylics.
im not sure if this has been asked before or if you have made any video on this.. but with "reducers" what are in these? i.e, can you or do you use water for water based acrylics (i do this to my acrylics out of the tube for paintings on canvas), what do you use for solvents would that also be a type of thinners? i use mainly tamiya acylic and use x-20a to thin them down to use in my small airbrush, would it be the same but just on a larger scale as ive brought a mini spray gun to mainly do clear coat 2k + hardener and what do you use to reduce/thin this stuff too?
cheers
my question is, and I'm a newbie and not purchasing an expensive gun, whether a cheaper HVLP or cheaper LVLP is better for acrylic enamel? I have had problems already with spraying with mini type HVLP guns and getting my spray just too dry. Could this be because of too much air and lead me towards LVLP?
Hi Brad…first time watcher…
