  1. I use something similar to a projector to get proportions correct but i dont like telling people bc people think its cheating or makes me not good at art but its just getting proportions down right not details or anything

  2. I am also starting out and it is not easy. I focus right now on charcoal drawings because 1. I love using this medium and 2. They don't take as long to create, so I can post more which is really important in the beginning of growing a social media presence.
I really want to get into painting more also, I love colors.

  3. Well you said it yourself, you painted all possible shit to make a buck, so why not to use a projector, well if it works for this purpose of making videos and making some bucks, more power to you, but there is always a but. It realy depends what you want to achieve if the proces isnt important for you than its justified, but…but you know this yourself when you draw akt model live its totally different process and also much much more dificult because you have to figure out solution for a problem you paint or draw yourself, there is no prearanged composition, no solved shading, colour or form preedefined you have to figgure out all this amazing things your self and thats the beauty in it. Those are basics, and if you want to skip them, than you will miss a lot and your works may look shiny and well finished but as we germans would say "Tot". Great painters like Schiele and Klimt would never achieve such understanding of form shape and composition as well as anatomy by using a photograph. But if you use let say, camera obscura, which is nothing but projector, or any other technique to translate your own sketch you made and solved acording to live model than its just a tool. So actually it isnt a question of Projector but how you solve a visual problem which is in a front of you, can you figure it out and solve it on paper or do you just borow a solved one and copy it. So its up to you what you do, but no need to pretend like it is the same. Level and type of skill needed for the first and least scenario differs in such manner that you cant even beginn to compare it, it would not be fair to people who do not understand what Im talking about. According to what i already said, everyone who has a skill, knows that those two aproaches are two totally different worlds. That is exactly the reason why we admire Schiele, Velasquez and other greats, and it actually matters and there are rules and rules are important, thats certain and for sure. If you want to learn to draw, you need to learn how to see and understand what you see, which is the most dificult thing in art.

  4. I'm a trained scenic artist / fine arts artist. – I use to paint large paintings in plus minus 10 days. Like Chuck-Close type.

This was my method and I recon the easiest way:

    1) Project your image on to the canvas (via classroom projector) – and trace the lines. (or use the grid method – but very slow). The projection makes things much faster.
    2) Paint the eyes first.
    3) Cover the background first
    4) Finish the foreground – (face, nose, mouth, hair and clothes).

    This should be the order.
